Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below a list of our frequently asked questions. If you can't see your question please call us direct and we will be happy to help.

General

Are your cottages suitable for couples and families?

Particularly outside of school holiday season, Green Door Cottages is ideal for couples wanting a peaceful or romantic break – our cottages make a wonderful setting to spend quality time together. Port Gaverne is a great base too for exploring Cornwall – there are coastal walks, great pubs & restaurants just a short distance.

Families love the Green Door Cottages!  With the beach on the doorstep, there is something for everyone.  Many of our guests came themselves as children and enjoyed rock-pooling and swimming in Port Gaverne, and now return with the next generation.

What about groups of friends or family?

We have 10 properties and can sleep up to 47 people (plus babies and small children in cots/z-beds).  You can book all 8 cottages and enjoy exclusive use of the communal courtyard garden; and if you book both Tregudda apartments you can sleep up to 16 people and have exclusive use of the whole property and garden. Groups of family or friends often book several cottages together.  We find this is really popular - allowing everyone to stay all together, whilst also benefitting from their own space.

How do I find out about the layout of all the properties on-site?

Our 8 cottages are all located together around the communal courtyard garden and the Tregudda apartments are a short distance away.  The beach is approximately 50 meters away and the pub is just across the lane. Click here for a plan.

Can I bring my dog with me to Green Door Cottages?

Yes – a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are very welcome at the Green Door Cottages – please let us know when you book.

What do I need to bring?

Our properties are fully equipped for self-catering, click here for a kitchen inventory.  We supply all bed linen & towels.  Please bring beach towels, dog bedding and towels.

Do you supply cots & highchairs?

Yes, free of charge.  Please request when you book.  The cots are travel cots with a mattress and we do supply cot bedding.  The highchairs are full sized.

Can I get food delivered?

Yes – for details, see our Grocery Shopping page.

Is your bedding hypo-allergenic?

All pillows and duvets are hypo-allergenic.  Feather pillows are available on request.

If I’m staying for more than a week, will my bedlinen/towels be changed?

If you are staying 2 weeks or more, bed linen, tea towels and towels will be changed mid-stay by our housekeeping staff.

When’s my balance due?

Arrival

Where are the Green Door Cottages - can I get there by public transport?

What time can we check in/check out?

Check in time is 3pm (4pm for the Tregudda apartments) on your day of arrival and checkout is 10am on your leaving day.

Will I get directions to my cottage?

Yes, we will send your directions on how to reach your cottage when we’ve received your balance payment, approximately 8 weeks before your holiday starts. If you have booked a last minute break, we will send this to you along with your confirmation invoice, as soon as the booking is paid in full.

How will I get the keys to my cottage?

We will contact you approximately 8 weeks before your holiday starts with details of where to find the keys to your cottage. If you have booked a last minute break we will send this to you along with your confirmation invoice.

Views from the bay window are really amazing even on a rainy day

We stayed in upper tregudda , the apartment is truly well equipped with everything you will need to make your stay go smoothly. The views from the bay window in the lounge area are really amazing even on a rainy day you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful bay. The grass area outside the apartments are a real bonus . The decked balcony that goes across the front of the apartment is a lovely spot to sit and have breakfast or a drink at the end of the day where you can watch the beautiful sunset. We will definitely be going back next year.
Miss O'Dell, stayed in Upper Tregudda, June 2017
